​Institute of Chinese Materia Medica attended the 2024 World Conference of Osteoarthritis Research Society International

From April 17 to 20, 2024, invited by Osteoarthritis Research Society International OARSI), researchers from the Institute of Chinese Materia Medica of China Academy of Chinese Medicine Sciences (CACMS), Lin Na, Zhang Yanqiong, and Associate Researcher Mao Xia, attended the 2024 World Conference of Osteoarthritis Research Society International convened in Vienna, Austria.

The three researchers introduced, at the OARSI conference, the three latest research results of the team respectively, which involve the pharmacological mechanism of the spleen-fortifying and collateral-dredging formula for osteoarthritis cartilage protection and anti-edema, TCM application suggestions in the clinical symptom staging/imaging grading of knee osteoarthritis, and the advantages and characteristics of TCM in improving knee osteoarthritis.

By participating in various activities of this seminar, including the keynote report, poster display, on-site exchanges and the “Sino-Germany Night”, the three researchers got a full understanding of the latest development and technological innovation of the international research on osteoarthritis, and further deepened their knowledge of the cutting-edge technology in this field. This is also a platform and opportunity for future scientific research and international cooperation. Their communication with the area head of China of the OARSI official association, and exchange of views on key scientific issues of the diagnosis, treatment and transformation of knee osteoarthritis of common concern, have laid the foundation for future cooperation between the two sides on the TCM prevention of chronic osteoarthritis.

In the Sino-German academic exchange, China’s traditional medicine culture and modern medicine achievements have been highlighted, which not only enhanced the friendship between scholars at home and abroad, but also promoted the international cooperation for overcoming medical difficulties in joint hands.
