Invited by the Department of Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, the Party Secretary of the Institute of Chinese Materia Medica, Song Lijuan, and the Editorial Director of Science of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Lv Dongmei, attended the wrap-up session of the 13th International Advisory Board Meeting on Hong Kong Chinese Materia Medica Standards (the Hong Kong Standards) from 15 to 17 Jan. 2024. Science of Traditional Chinese Medicine has been promoted through the platform of the International Advisory Board on Hong Kong Chinese Materia Medica Standards. More than 20 experts from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Austria, Thailand, Australia, Germany, the UK, the US, Canada, Japan and other countries and regions attended the meeting.
Director of Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Dr Ronald Lam Man-kin, has worked with Huang Luqi, President of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, as co-editors of the journal Science of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Chairman of the International Advisory Board on Hong Kong Chinese Materia Medica Standards, Dr Ronald Lam Man-kin has been very supportive for the development of the journal. The “Hong Kong Standards” international expert meeting sponsored by the Department of Health has become a platform, which by inviting related personnel from the sponsor and the editorial board has allowed the face-to-face publicity of the journal with international experts, thus making Science of Traditional Chinese Medicine known to the world. At the meeting, Prof. Li Shaoping, the Executive Editor, introduced the background of the founding of the journal, the person in charge, support from the sponsor unit, orientation of the journal, composition of the editorial board, editing and publishing, etc., expressing the hope of enhancing the international influence of the journal with the advantage of Hong Kong as the bridgehead of Sino-foreign exchange, especially the help of the internationally renowned experts present. Also on the meeting, he invited the experts to publish relevant research papers in the journal, to co-organize TCM academic seminars and other activities, exchange academic fruits, and build an international first-class journal of TCM in joint hands.
