Acupuncture is a part of TCM.As a unique method of treating diseases,Acupuncture has made outstanding contributions to protect people’s health for thousands of years. The scientific research and medical work of Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in the field of acupuncture can be traced back to 1951.

The Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion leads the R&D direction of acupuncture and moxibustion, proposes major scientific issues in the field of acupuncture and moxibustion research, and puts forward constructive opinions for national policy. Over the past 60 years, a number of high-level scientific research results have been achieved.

At present, the Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion is planning to build the  International Acupuncture Training Center  in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and implement the acupuncture science plan. Through the organization of multi-disciplinary, cross-country scientific and technological resources, the study of meridian specificity and effect mechanism is the starting point, and the clinical advantages of acupuncture Disease research is the carrier, systematic and in-depth research is conducted on the basic scientific problems that have been reflected in the practice of acupuncture and moxibustion, innovating and reconstructing the acupuncture theory system based on scientific evidence, conducting international multi-center clinical research with large samples, and determining the what disease is appropriate to be treated by  acupuncture and moxibustion  so as to provide objective evidence.
