On Sep 2, the “2023 Beijing TCM Innovation Development Forum”, co-sponsored by Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and Beijing Association for Science and Technology, was held during the 2023 CIFTIS. Huang Luqi, Deputy Director of National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and President of CACMS, Sun Guangrong, Master of TCM, Tu Zhitao from Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shen Jie, Party Secretary of Beijing Association for Science and Technology, attended and addressed the forum.
Huang Luqi pointed out TCM, having spread to 196 countries and regions in the world, has evolved into an important area of cooperation between China and many international organizations. Recently, TCM has been incorporatedin 16 free trade agreements and we have set up 31 TCM service export bases, 30 high-quality TCM overseas centers and a number of TCM international cooperation bases, , all of which have contributed to the provision of high quality TCM services to people around the world. Huang Luqi also emphasized that, in recent years, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and other departments, has issued documents including Several Opinions on Promoting the Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine Service Trade, and Specific Measures for Supporting the High-quality Development of the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Service Export Bases, resulting in continuous strengthening of policy support for TCM service trade, ever improving systems and mechanisms therein, and positive progress and remarkable effect of TCM service trade. Huang demanded that we should leverage CIFTIS as ahigh-level international platform to build as world brand of TCM service trade, empower high-quality development of TCM swith science and technology innovation, and promote the whole industrial chain integration of TCM service trade so as to create broader development space for TCM trade in services.
During CIFTIS, CACMS renewed cooperation agreement with Eurasia-Pacific Uninet of Austria, aiming at continuously promoting the cooperation in academic exchanges, joint research projects, and talent cultivation.
Song Ping, Director of the International Cooperation Division of CACMS, Jing Xianghong, Director of the Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of CACMS, Prof. Rudolf Bauer from Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Graz, Zhao Jing from the Institute of Basic Research in Clinical Medicine, CACMS, Fan Maorong, Deputy Director of Pulmonary Department of Xiyuan Hospital, CACMS, and Zhang Jiliang, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Co., Ltd., delivered reports respectively on such topics as promotion of the international acupuncture and moxibustion science programme, exploration of research approaches for pharmacological mechanism of Chinese herbal compounds, construction of the China-Austria “Belt and Road” joint laboratory of TCM for the Prevention and Treatment of Major Infectious Diseases,, information sharing on China-Austria TCM exchange and cooperation, TCM international education and innovative product promotion, the first medical team to support overseas TCM practitioners, innovation and exploration of TCM and modern life science integration, and transformation of TCM innovation.
This forum serves as a platform for enterprises and public institutions in academic exchanges, industrial cooperation and policy research, with a view to promote the innovation development of TCM and create wider development space for TCM services.
A total of more than 10,000 people attended the forum both online and offline, which brought together leaders, renowned experts and scholars from government, medical and enterprise institutions such as National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing Association for Science and Technology, Dongfang Hospital Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Beijing Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Co., Ltd. and Beijing Association of the Integrating of Traditional and Western Medicine,.
