
Jing Xiang-hong, principal investigator: Acupuncture-Moxibustion Clinical Study— Where Two Ends Meet
The Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences has accumulated 70 years of experience in scientific research, clinic research and international training of acupuncturist; it undertook the Lancang Mekong Cooperation Special Fund "Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture and Moxibustion Entering Lancang Mekong Countries - Benefiting People's Health in 5 Countries". The main purpose is to strengthen scientific research exchanges and cooperation and personnel training in the Lancang Mekong river five countries, promote the medical level of acupuncturist, and provide important protection for the health of the people in the five countries.
In order to implement the spirit of Premier Li Ke-qiang’s speech at the third Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting in 2020, and implement the "Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Entering Lancang Mekong Countries" project, from October 2020 to May 2021, China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center (CBIATC) of the Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion held a total of three series of live courses for the "Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Entering Lancang Mekong Countries" project. With the strong support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of International Cooperation of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Chinese embassies in five countries, and the Ministry of Health of Thailand and Cambodia, this event is open to students from Traditional Chinese Medicine major in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar. TCM physicians, acupuncturists, and Chinese medicine physicians with western medicine background join live courses. This event aims to improve the medical level of acupuncture practitioners, master multiple special acupuncture methods, and understand the new progress of scientific research in acupuncture field.
The lecture invited senior experts engaged in acupuncture and moxibustion clinical and basic research to give a total of 62 hours courses, benefiting more than 1,600 people from 5 countries. The lecture covers the introduction of meridians, acupuncture treatment for headaches, sports injuries, dysmenorrhea, beauty and weight loss, special needle puncture, and acupoint embedding method, acupoint application, exercise massage, health care exercises (Ba Duan Jin), basic scientific research of acupuncture and moxibustion, etc. Lecturers and students had a good interaction and communication. The students had a deep understanding of the current situation of acupuncture and moxibustion research and the mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion.
President Chen Ai-ling of Mea Fah Luang Unversity in Thailand expressed that she hopes to have the opportunity to lead students to the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences for further study, and expressed sincere thanks to the leaders and lecturers from the Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and CBIATC.
Through live courses and internet, acupuncture and moxibustion will benefit the health of people in five countries, fight the epidemic, allow more people to benefit from traditional medicine, and contribute to the development of the "one Belt one Road" of Chinese medicine.
