Based on its experience of scientific and clinical research on acupuncture and moxibustion as well as 70 years’ training of international acupuncture and moxibustion practitioners, the Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences undertook the project of “Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion Benefiting People in Five Lancang-Mekong Countries”. This project aims to strengthen cooperation with these countries in medical and scientific exchange as well as personnel training and enhance appropriate technique of acupuncture and moxibustion for the health of people in the five countries.

The institute made video courses and compiled Textbook for International Advanced Course of Acupuncture and Moxibustion covering treatment of obesity, urticaria, sports injuries, chronic pain and other diseases by acupuncture and moxibustion. By these efforts, we intend to enhance clinical skills and approaches of Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion professionals in these countries. Besides, we provided online live classes to 626 participants and issued certificates to them through e-mails. The satisfactory rate of the classes from students’ questionnaire is 96%. The Department of Traditional and Alternative Medicines of Ministry of Public Health of Thailand and Acting Dean of School of Integrated Medicine, Mae Fah Luang University, Thailand even sent letters of thanks to convey the gratitude of teachers and students as well as willingness for more cooperation with our institute.

Now our institute is compiling Prevention of Diseases and Unique Therapies in Traditional Chinese Medicine and will forward it to people in Lancang-Mekong countries after publishing to assist tackle against COVID-19.
