On April 25th, Li Yingsheng, president of Federation of the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Chinese Medicines Traders Association, and his Team visited Guang’an Men Hospital. After seeing the exhibition of the hospital’s historical development, cardiovascular department, TCM acupuncture department, TCM dispensing and exhibition of cultures, this delegation learned about the advantages and features of our TCM on the spot. The two sides had in-depth discussions on the development of TCM in Beijing and Hong Kong, and the discussions focused on promotion of the inheritance, innovation and development of TCM hand in hand. Wang Xiaopin, secretary of the Party Committee of our hospital, and Lv Wenliang, vice president, received the visit.

The delegation spoke highly of our hospital’s achievements in the promotion of the inheritance, innovation and development of TCM, scientific research and innovation, as well as the construction of TCM specialties. Li Yingsheng, president of Federation of the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Chinese Medicines Traders Association, pointed out that TCM cause in Hong Kong started late though, it developed steadily through continuous efforts of a few generations of TCM practitioners. He hoped there would be more opportunities for learning and exchange in the future to enhance the communication and cooperation between Beijing and Hong Kong, and provide new ideas and occasions for the development of TCM in the two regions.

Lv Wenliang, vice president of our hospital, introduced more than 60 years of the history of our hospital to the delegation, and briefly summarized the achievements of our hospital in medical service, scientific and technological innovation, talent cultivation and international exchanges, etc. Vice President Lv Wenliang pointed out that Guang’anmen Hospital has insisted on highlighting the characteristics and advantages of TCM, and building such advantageous specialties as tumor, cardiovascular disease and rheumatism to provides better medical services, stronger support and guarantee to people.

Wang Xiaopin, Party Secretary of the hospital, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. Secretary Wang Xiaopin pointed out that Guang’anmen Hospital and TCM community in Hong Kong have longstanding friendship, and jointly carried out numerous academic exchange activities, laying a sound foundation for cooperation of the two regions. This was especially the case during the fight against COVID-19 epidemic. Our academician Tong Xiaolin was dispatched as the leader of the Central TCM Assisting Team to Hong Kong to execute the anti-epidemic task and this brought Hong Kong confidence in TCM to fight the epidemic. She hoped that under the background of TCM development strategy, the medical community of both regions could continue their friendship, learn from each other and complement each other with their advantages. She looked forward to close cooperation with Hong Kong TCM community and opening up a broader cooperation platform together in the future.

The visit of the delegation of Hong Kong TCM community enhanced the mutual understanding between Hong Kong TCM community and our hospital, and laid a foundation for the cooperation between TCM communities in Beijing and Hong Kong in the inheritance, innovation and development of TCM. The heads of international cooperation division, hospital office, pharmaceutical division and other functional divisions accompanied the visit and participated in the discussion.
