1.Background
Based on previous cooperation with the University of Graz Austria, CACMS applied and got the approval of Ministry of Science and Technology to co-establish the "China-Austrian Belt and Road Joint Lab on TCM for the Prevention and Treatment of Severe Infectious Diseases” in 2020.
2.Goals
The lab aims to build a bridge of communication between scientists and unite global forces to solve medical problems; provide an experimental platform to scientists; to support independent research and development projects, support young scholars, expand international scientific and technological cooperation, and serve the global scientific and technological innovation in the field of traditional medicine.
3.Main research content
The laboratory will focus on the research on the following aspects: (1) Establish human iPSC-derived research center and use iPSC-derived cells to set up human equivalent models, like human skin equivalent model, blood-brain barrier model, and lung organoids in vitro to evaluate and explore drug toxicity, safety and efficacy in different dimensions.
(2)Establish a research center for the development and activity of medicinal plant resources, including medicinal plant resources platform, medicinal plant molecular identification platform, medicinal plant quality evaluation platform, medicinal plant activity screening platform, medicinal plant synthetic biology platform, etc.
(3) Establish an analysis center for the prevention and treatment of TM, to provide big data statistics, data warehouse construction and computing, artificial intelligence computing and other services. Connect the TM classics with modern research, to provide a reliable basis for the formulation and verification of clinical and scientific research programs. (4) Establish a technical center for clinical evaluation and transformation of innovative pharmaceutical products, combine research results, develop innovative pharmaceutical products for clinical applications, and promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
