On August 5, 2022, Huang Luqi, President of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS), leading a delegation of CACMS, visited Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and talked with Han Zirong, Vice President of the Organizing Committee, Yu Debin, Director of the Service Department of the Olympic Games; Huang Chun, Deputy Director of the Service Department of the Olympic Games; and Qi Shiming, Head of the Medical and Health Division of the Service Department of the Olympic Games.
Huang Luqi first introduced the purpose of this visit. He said, CACMS, as a comprehensive research institution of TCM directly under the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, always follows the national development strategy, serves the needs of the national development, brings into play the advantages of TCM, and provides high-quality TCM services for the people. It is committed to promoting the international development of TCM and spreading China’s traditional culture around the world. Especially since the outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic, CACMS actively involved in the prevention and control of the epidemic at home and abroad, and has gained rich experience. To hold Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games is a key task listed in the “14th Five-Year Plan” , and it provides opportunities for showcasing China’s national development, and the national spirit. CACMS hopes to contribute to the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games by giving full play to the strengths of TCM in fighting the epidemic, providing medical support and services, and demonstrating the charms of TCM culture to the world.
Han Zirong spoke highly of CACMS in the fight against the epidemic and the capabilities for providing medical services. The pandemic, which is currently raging, poses great challenges to the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. At the same time, she pointed out that TCM represents Chinese culture and is gradually recognized by people all over the world. The Organizing Committee will make overall plans for sports venues and set up TCM exhibition area to showcase TCM culture and provide venues for TCM services such as Tuina massage and cupping for foreign guests.
During the talks, Han Zirong and Huang Luqi reached preliminary consensus on cooperation. Based on the needs of and arrangements made by the Organizing Committee, the CACMS will cooperate in setting up the TCM exhibition area and provide athletes and participants of the Games with special TCM services and basics medical services.
